    Walter & Group...

One of our members, Chase Pritchett tells me that he can't read our Group messages.  He keeps getting this message back as we send to him:

I'm not computer savvy enough to help him.  Can any of you give advice on what he needs to do ?  I've explained to him that all Group messages are sent in HTML, not MIME. ??????????????

Perhaps you'ld be kind enough to contact Chase directly at:  chasepritchett@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    THANKS !

Here is a wealth of information of SLIDE LOADING from Guy Manning         Gordy :-

I see slide loading quite a bit on more advanced casters. Some are not aware of the fact that they do it. I believe it is usually a result of the self-optimization that Al Kyte discusses in his paper on “Substance and Style” which I hope everyone has read. If not they can download it at: http://castflys.net/certmatl.aspx

Here are 3 samples of animated video that clearly show slide loading.

Even Steve Rajeff does it but to a lesser extent.

    From Ally Gowans:

    Hi Gordy,

Slide loading is a natural style for me when casting with an open stance. The amount of smooth loading that is applied at the commencement of the forward cast depends on the relative speeds of the rod hand and line hand so the rod can be loaded very gently to start with and progressively as the rod and line is accelerated using axial hauls which are very efficient and improve the possibility of SLP. It is difficult to produce long axial hauls if the line hand starts hauling at ear level (which means a lot of line has to be fed back into the back cast if a max haul is made on the back cast and increased possibility of slack) because the line hand would have to take an accelerating curving path around the body – difficult! The alternative of course is to reduce the haul distance on the back cast which means that its less effective and timing of the forward haul may become more tricky. I’ve attached a sequence showing slide loading, if anyone has a problem opening this file they should import it to Power Point or any MS program.

My understanding has always been that a Double Haul requires line to be “fed back” and that without feed back a haul in each direction would be a combination of two Single Hauls (sometimes called half hauls!). The latter of course can only be done once in a sequence!

    Best wishes,

    Ally Gowans
