Walter & Group.....
So far, here is what I've been able to find out regarding Titanium wire tippet material:
BRAND: AFW. Monofilament titanium wire. Comes in 15' spools. Available at some general fishing tackle stores in South Florida . Available in 30 lb. test and 40 lb. test. Can be tied with Albright Special, clinch & Homer Rhode loop knots.
BRAND: TERMINATOR. Same description. This is of slightly greater diameter for the same lb. test.
BRAND: BOA WIRE. Same desctription except that I do not know the available lb. tests, diameters, or coil lengths.
BRAND: AMERICAN FISHING WIRE. Monofilament titanium wire. Camo-smoke,black finish. Carried by Cabalas (See their 2007 Salt Water Catalog.)
Lb. Test - Diameters available:
30 lb. ..014
40 lb. .016
50 lb. .018
75 lb. .022
100 lb. .026
Same knots.
This company also makes:-
BRAND: SURFLON Nylon Coated Wire. NOT Ti (it's Stainless steel) Comes in black or, "brite". It is twisted SS cable coated with clear nylon. Range of sizes = 15 lb. test ( .021 dia.) through 135 lb. test (.041 dia.)
Can be fastened with stainless steel sleeves or heat fusion resulting in melting and fusing the nylon coating. I've found that a super simple fig. 8 knot to the hook or even a 1X half hitch to the hook works OK and won't slip even when used as a bite tippet for large Gorilla bluefish off Montauk. Albright Special to the class tippet, a modified Huffnagle, or a simple knot we make with an overhand tie in the wire through which I pass the class tippet followed by a uni-knot finish (6X). The latter is much quicker to tie. (My Dad thought he'd invented this one ..... we call it the, "Key-West Knot" and use it occasionally for a quick tie for a change of bite tippet as the fish are busting and we don't have time for anything more complicated.) We, later, found that Al Pfleuger had been using this one for years.
BRAND: SEVENSTRAND SEVALON. This is another brand of similar stainless steel material . It can also be purchased as uncoated twisted cable. Listed in these sizes: 18 , 27 , 40 , 60 , 90 , 135 , 170 , 250 (Refers to Lb. test) I have not yet found the diameter listings.
Disadvantages of the cable wire leader material:
1. After landing a toothy critter, it often has to be changed because you cannot get the kinks out.
2. As with any wire bite tippet, we don't get nearly as many strikes. On some days, no strikes at all. When that happens, we use nylon mono or fluorocarbon and suffer the loss of many flies ..... but we get strikes and do land a certain percentage of these fish anyway. (I landed two Barracudas, yesterday, using plain nylon mono .... lost none.)
Hope this helps.
