Subject: Re: Monday
9/18 questions
my Short answer;
start with an evaluation of their
ability and find out what they need work on in their mind. This is a good starting point.
discuss the
equipment and saftey 20min.
practice and review the 5
essentials of fly casting 1 hour ( longer if needed)
explain the wide loop
concept for Bass bugs and practice oval casts too. 30 min. (longer if
needed)
explain the Roll cast and how it will apply to lifting the fly off
the water to begin a cast for a Poppin bug and then work on the sink tip line
roll/lift. 40min
break from casting for 15 min to rest arm and field
questions (slug down a six pack) When you are resting
the arm muscles you are letting them 'repair' . If you do not rest them and the
mending does not take place you have gained only a sore arm. Younger bodies
recover faster than older body parts. So if your students are older take breaks
that give them time to recover, mend and remember the new muscle
memory.
Work with wind situations and heavy flys, how to work with
others in the boat . Happy you thought of this problem
use the next 40 min to have them go through all the things they
learned and work on specific needs.
So much for a short answer
thanks for
keeping me in the loop (ak ak ak)
