Walter & Group...
[GH] Here is a fly line loop brainteaser from Jeff Wagner . Let's see what you think as you answer his questions.
Due to the no. of bytes in these photos, I'll send the first one with this message and the second in a second message. Check both out carefully before you send your answers :
Gordy
Gordy, I have attached two pictures that, if the group is interested, might be fun to dissect. In picture 1 (6286) it is a picture of a caster carrying ~85' of line at a competition in Vail Colorado (Teva Mountain games). You will notice that the line stands out against the rock climbing wall in the background and the leader is bright orange. The second picture (6287) is of the delivery and if you look off of the tip of the rod you can see the fly line.
I have made my own assumptions but thought it might be fun to ask:
1.) - what are the distinct shapes you notice about the loop and leader?
2.) - where is the leader?
3.) - what could cause this loop shape?
4.) - is the rod position appropriate?
5.) - could the loop be improved and if so, how?
6.) - what do you believe would be the end result of this back cast and the next forward cast which was the delivery?
