This course is intended as a self study guide for those who are preparing for Master Casting Instructor (MCI) certification with  Fly Fishers International (FFI). It is meant to supplement materials that are available through the FFI on their website. In all cases of conflict between the material on the mcistudygroup.com website and the FFI material the FFI material will be considered correct. In addition to the discussion material you will find a number of practice quizzes to help you gauge your progress and understanding of the material.

While this self study course and quizzes will help you prepare for the MCI examination it does not guarantee success.  In addition demonstrated knowledge of the material you will be required to demonstrate your casting and teaching abilities. Participating in the discussion area will help provide additional preparation. In addition, you are strongly encouraged to find a mentor or mentors to help guide you through your preparations, assess your current level objectively, and help you decide when you are ready to try the exam. In addition to finding a mentor it is highly recommended that you find and work together with other like minded individuals who are also preparing for casting instructor certification so that you can help and encourage each other to practice regularly with the goal of certification.
