  • Rebound effect on the loop

    Walter & Group.....

Important information on the effect of rebound (after counterflex) on the loop sent by Guy Manning Note the attachment (Gowans Lovoll Edit. pdf - Adobe reader ):-

Ally Gowans powerpoint tracking of Grunde’s cast misses the affect that the “rod recovered from counterflex” (in the third frame) introduces to the fly line. I have extended a theoretical loop from his presentation in the 4th frame to show the little loop anomaly that occurs from the “counterflex recovery”. We used to describe this as being caused by “tip bounce”, which isn’t really that far off in thinking.

Guy....     Very clear.  This, "counterflex recovery" made by rebound also helps to some extent negate the effect of counterflex on the rod leg of the loop.  If we could extend this even more, we'd also see more of that counterflex effect being straightened out by the momentum of the forward traveling loop (provided its speed and inertia were sufficient to do that.)
