From Lou Bruno:
Hi Gordy,
Our recent discussion on fly line shape/taper got me
thinking about leader configurations. I know we generally taper the leader, as
this helps in a smooth distribution of line energy. At times we change the
leader length, the leader tensile strength (material), and the leader
taper.
My question is has anyone ever experimented with other
leader configurations? And, if we do not use a standard taper “big butt” okay
large diameter butt section, to a small diameter mid section what would be the
result in turning over the leader?
I included an attachment that shows some leader
configurations. The drawings are the type of leader configurations that I am
curious to know about.
Regards,
Lou

Lou: I've included your attachment on various leader designs.
Let's ask our members to comment on how they think each one would behave on presentation. A brief note on each one will suffice.
One very good way of coming up with the answers is to go ahead and tie up one of each and try them.
Gordy
