Walter & Group........
As you know, a comment from Matt at Western Rivers on the present design of the Sharkskin fly lines not being good for turnover of the leader at great distances was answered by Bruce Richards with a note stating that this configuration was not designed for max distance casting and that a future design would be coming out for that purpose.
At the Conclave, I found that the line turned over the leader just fine at 90 feet. I'm not a champion distance caster, and didn't attempt casts in the 120' range. The line shot out more easily than any I'd cast before and made a pleasant sound which is hard to describe. I had the distinct feeling that I needed less energy input for a given distance.
I was most impressed with the lack of, "tangleability" of the loops on the ground, even when I purposely placed them poorly prior to the shoot. That feature, alone, would make this a fisherman-friendly line.

Mack....
I'll be working the ACA casting event at the IGFA in Dania, Fl. in Feb. with Steve Rajeff. It'll be interesting to see if some of these distance experts have tried it and their comments.

QUESTION FOR THE GROUP :
How would you design a fly line for maximum distance casting ? .....NOT A SHOOTING HEAD, BUT A FULL LENGTH FLY LINE.
Your answer should include:-
1.) Mass profile
a. Forward taper
b. "Belly"
c. Rear taper
d. Running line
2.) Coating characteristics.
3.) Core construction and material
4.) Line stretch
5.) Other considerations.
Have fun with this one !
