    Walter & Group......

    From Troy Miller:-

    Hi guys –

I’m asking y’all for some guidance on a potential student that I’ve been e-mailed to help.  Please review the short string below and tell me if this sounds legit to you?  I’ve taken on several students that sound very similar to this, but this one makes me a little uncomfortable.  I’m not sure if this is some kind of scam, based I guess on the fact that she’s supposedly an 18 year old girl with no apparent guardians in this country.  I’ve heard all the horror stories about scammers getting your bank account info so they can pay you, and then draining your accounts somehow.

On the other hand, if this is a genuine request for instruction, I’d sure like to help out.  Advice?

    Regards -- TAM

Where is she traveling from?  What is her primary language, and how well does she speak English?  What type of fish will she want to catch?  Has she done any flyfishing or flycasting before?

      Troy......

I got the same letter from the same individual, but for a visit for the girl to my area, staying with a friend (Florida).

While this may be legit., I'd be cautious.

Several years ago, as similar sounding request resulted in pre-payment for an amount in excess of what my buddy said he'd charge.  The party then requested a check from him for the overpayment.  That gave them his bank account info.  They cleaned out his account !

Have any of you other instructors gotten a message like this from a Ms. Crist Cremas ?
