    Walter & Group..........

Several of you have responded to say that you received the same request ....... daughter to be staying in various locations, different states.  I won't belabor this further.          Gordy

Ally Gowans and I have been discussing a subject which has been brought up here in past years..... that of the various names which have been applied to different casts.  In particular, I have noted a degree of confusion not only upon discussing or teaching  POSITIVE or NEGATIVE  /  ACCELERATING or DECELERATING casts, but on MCCI exams as well.

Here is a thoughtful message on the subject from Ally :-

    Hi Gordy,

Any sensible form of wording satisfies me and if after that we use the same terminology so much the better. The trouble is that all casts accelerate and decelerate so neither description is precise. The terminology is less understood than the theory and practice. Instructors agree on at least 90% of casting but disagree on how to describe them about 30% of the time! Like language dialect itself casting nomenclature has emerged from regional sources and now in an international world the failings have become obvious but with ongoing discourse and usage they will eventually iron out somewhat. Hopefully the FFF dictionary will speed that process.

    Best wishes,

    Ally Gowans
