    Jerry...

I know of other book  devoted to this subject.

Joan Wulff writes about an exercise program in her book, JOAN WULFF'S FLY-CASTING ACCURACY. (Chap. 12, P 89, "Strengthening your Casting Muscles".)

Charles Ritz, in his book, A FLY FISHER'S LIFE, recommends exercises and specifies the use of arm exercises using a "HOCK" wine bottle. (P. 35)

Gordy, I was in the Library looking for "Trout" and by accident found a book entitled "Fit To Fish", How to Tackle Angling Injuries,  by Stephen L. Hisey, P.T. and Keith R. Bernard, M.D.  Had it not contained a forward by Bob Jacklin I would not have spent the entire afternoon reading this helpful book.

I would think that we might add a book to the recommended list of books dealing with fitness and total injury prevention.  Do you have any book you recommend?  Have you read, "Fit To Fish"?   I really believe as CCI's we should be standard bearers teaching injury prevention. This time of year is get in shape for summer time.  When one casts , rows all day,  jumps in and out of driftboats ones risk for injury is always present as is, I am sure, the case fishing Salt Water.  At 65 I ain't no spring chicken and injury is easy if not in good shape with constant attention to safety practices.
I spend a good deal of time with beginners talking and teaching efficient, natural relaxed use of the entire body painting the picture of good casting habits for a life time to prevent injury.

We talk about tennis elbow (medial epicondylitis) rightfully so but the picture is so much bigger.   "Fit For Fishing" is an down to earth easy to read book that will be a part of my library. ISBN 1-57188-354-1.  It is filled with practical and helpful information to become fit for fishing and life.  Now that I think about it, fishing is life!

Would this not be a good course for the Conclave,  "Injury Prevention, Physical fitness and Excercises for the Complete Fly Fisher"?

Any way these are just the thoughts of an aging fisherman dealing with the cumulative effects of a lifetime various injuries.  Thanks always for your kind words. Jerry
