Hi, Al....
Nice going. Good basic information.
I added just a few words for MCI level thinking.

Howdy Ganghere is what I have for the Essentials of a good cast from Jay & Bill Gammel's book.Essentials of Fly Casting
1. The elimination of SLACK LINE is the most efficient manner in which to cast a fly line.
2. Proper ACCELERATION of power applied to the fly rod at the correct time controls rod loading. Acceleration should be uninterrupted and progressive to a crisp stop.
3. The length of the CASTING STROKE is generally determined by the length of the line to be cast. The longer the cast, the greater the length of the stroke.
4. There must be a PAUSE between strokes. The pause should be proportional to the length of line carried, provided that the speed of the rod tip remains unchanged.
(SHORT CAST= SHORT PAUSE. LONG CAST= LONG PAUSE.)
THE PAUSE MUST BE LONGER FOR SLOWER ROD TIP SPEEDS, AND SHORTER FOR GREATER SPEED.
5. There must be a STOP at the end of the stroke in both directions.
6. The amount of ROD ARC will increase as the length of line carried increases. (short cast = less rod arc. Long cast = greater rod arc.
7. The length of overall TIP TRAVEL will be greater the more line is carried, and less when less line is carried. (Long cast = long tip travel. Short cast = short tip travel.) (Tip travel is the resultant of stroke length and casting (rod) arc.)
8. The size of the loop is largely determined by the path of the rod tip during the cast. Especially the rod tip path taken near the completion of the stroke. Efficient tight loop formation requires the caster to move the rod in an almost straight line path.
The first 6 Essentials are the building
blocks of number 8. For this reason, the virtually straight line path of the rod tip may be considered the most important. This is not true for all casts such as curved and portions of elliptical casts, but remains true for so-called, "straight line overhead casting."
