[GH] NEW FAULT(S) :
PROBLEM DISTANCE CASTS
While mentoring a Master candidate, recently, I ran across a problem which I have frequently noted in the past.
When making a cast out to 70' - 75', he made the distance easily with a perfect leader layout. His loop legs were reasonably parallel, and both forward and back cast loops were small and almost equal. Timing was close to perfect. There was no tendency to tail and no sag in the back cast configuration.
As soon as he attempted to reach the 85' target, the cast deteriorated. With several tries he only made the distance once ... and then the leader landed crumpled in a heap with the tippet directed back toward the caster.
The more he tried to reach that target, the worse the presentation.
QUESTIONS :
1. Briefly describe one or more of the problems which you think may be going on here.
2. Let us know your way of tackling the problem (or problems)
