    Walter & Group....

[GH]  More info. on the casting pictures from Jeff Wagner :

Gordy, I can put a little more context to the shot if you think it pertinent to the conversation.

    - the ground was not level, the ground was on an incline from front to back with the back cast being made at a higher angle to not hit the ground.

    - the line did not tick the ground as ticks are not allowed in this competition.

    - the casting lane was approximately 4' wide and all of the line/leader/fly had to be within the line from fly to rod tip.  If any portion was outside the cast was not counted.

    - slight wind blowing into caster (headwind).

    - leader was extremely short, approximately 5' of Umpqua practice leader cut from the tip back so it left a very aggressive butt section and taper with no tippet.

-casts were timed, only 2.5 minutes to make 9 accuracy casts and 3 distance casts

Might make a difference might not in the evaluations.

    Thanks,

    Jeff Wagner
