    Simbirski & Group...

    [GH]  Our best wishes and hope for their safety go out to our members in Japan after a devastating earthquake and tsunami .

    [GH]  From Craig Buckbee,

    Concerning Bill Keister's comments on Michael Mauri's lift... sounds like a Cut Cast/Lift (version of a snap back) which can be
    quite addictive. one possible negative with it is the introduction of a wave (slack) into the back cast.
    Some casters,  Mr Valle for example, would rather break the tension with a circular movement which energizes the line but
    has a higher level of tension.

    For distance, single-hand speys as well as mends I have come to appreciate the steelhead tapered lines.
    Their heads are long, but not quite as long as the expert distance lines we all like to play with, and they have a nice
    strong rear taper enabling mends.

    I use them in a 7 wgt...   by Rio and Scientific Angler which also makes a 6 wgt.
    There is a Wulff  steelhead line which i have not cast but many swear by.

    ... probably old news to most here in the study group.
    let mud season begin,
    craig

    [GH] Craig,

    Interesting description.  Not, however, the lift anticipated for Task 9.

    In case someone is wondering, a snap-T would not be the way to go for this task, either.
