[GH] Congratulations to Mike Heritage !!!
Hi Gordy,
I would just like to thank you and the group for helping me prepare for, and pass, my MCI last Friday (the thirteenth). Does this mean I am now drummed out of the group?
Mike

[GH] Mike,
You will join the other Masters who make this Group what it is.
I'm just the moderator who tries to get the rest of you to do the teaching.

[GH] From Phil Gay,
Gordy,
I believe the issue of direct line speed or additional line speed as a result of additional loading is a variable. If I just move the rod enough to get it out of the way of the oncoming line when hauling most of the speed is coming from the haul loading. If however I am applying maximum acceleration with my rod hand then the haul contributes more to line speed as well as some marginal additional loading.

[GH] Phil,
Back to Dennis Grant's, " It depends ".

[GH] 'craig Buckbee sends an interesting quote on STYLE. I think it applies well to fly casting :
Gordy,
a quote i found intriguing from the NY Times Science Section (April 19, 2011) "To Tug At the Heart, Music First Must Tickle The Neurons", by Pam Belluck.
Rosanne Cash speaking with the author,
She said she learned from her father, Johnny Cash, "that your style is a function of your limitations, more so than a function of your skills."
regards,
craig
