Folks,
I
just spoke with Bill Nash's daughter this morning and she informed me that
Bill passed away quietly last night. He suffered no pain and the family
was there for him.
The family will post details and other
information in a day or so once they get a better grip on things. There
will be no memorial service at Bill's request. They do like cards, e-mails
and hearing or receiving good "Bill" stories, which also can be posted
here.
Bill was a great man, a wonderful person, kind and sharing.
He loved to banter and argue techniques, experiment and of course he was
and still is the "Knot Man". The family plans to continue to publish he
book "Fly Casting Systems".
I will miss having Bill's skiff parked
next to mine, having his trailer only a space or two away, of being able
to drop by for a chat or him dropping by my trailer for a chat and a
fishing update - sharing dinners and stories; and discussing ideas on how
to improve a fly.
He will be missed by so many and I'm glad the
world got to know Bill Nash a little better though this board and on the
water too.
God bless you Bill; and your wonderful family too. This
photo of you taken last March will hang on my wall of fame so I'll be able
to think of you every day.

Bill and I communicated in the past on knots and leader designs. He, the
true expert ..... me the learner.
For those who
really wish to study leader assemblies for big game fishing and/or fly fishing
in the salt, his spiral bound text is the best I've ever seen. So is his
DVD.
