Walter & Group..........
From Natalie Driscoll, Tom White's daughter:
Bryan and
Gordy,
Because I can’t get the
Tom White Foundation up and running in the time needed I’m setting up a memorial
fund for Dad. I’m having a bit of a hang up because a death certificate is
needed. It’s taking a bit for the certificate. I should have it set up by
Monday.

From Walter Simberski:-
Gordy - Thanks for the reply regarding the definition of casting plane. I
definitely think Mac is on the right track with
the idea of the other planes being referred to collectively as casting
planes. I especially like it because it provides a
way of differentiating between the mathematical concept of a plane and a
casting plane. In mathematics a plane is
a two dimensional surface. In fly casting the things we call planes are
approximations of mathematical planes.
We could say that casting planes are imaginary surfaces defined by the path
or motion of a piece of equipment
or body part during some portion of a casting stroke that approximate a
flat, or two dimensional, surface.
Examples of casting planes would then be:
Rod plane - the casting plane defined by the rod
during a straight line cast, i.e. an imaginary surface that
the rod slides along during a straight line cast.
Line plane - the casting plane perpendicular to the rod plane that is
defined by the line. Deviations of the line
from the line plane is one of the causes of tailing loops.
Thanks

Walter.....
I happen to like that concept. Mac is quick to point out that many
casts such as the eliptical casts have non-planar components.

Another message from Walter:-
Gordy - I will have to look at Dec Hogan's Spey Casting video again. It may
have been there or a in story that was related to me by Tim Rajeff or Chris
Sepio
about Dec Hogan but Tom's Dump Cast was definitely given credit as the
inspiration for the Snap-T. Dec and friends got the idea from watching Tom
demonstrate
the dump cast during a trade show. I will follow up on this and get back to
you.
Regards
Walter
