Are you aware of “The Wise Fishermen’s Encyclopedia”? It was published in 1951 and edited by McClane. This is where he got the basics for his own encyclopedia. It contains a lot of info about the old technologies including bamboo, gut, nylon etc. There is an interesting article about how gut leader material was manufactured and classified.

Thanks for that info. I have McClane's book, but not, "The Wise Fishermen's Encyclopedia".

Glad you filled me in on the NAACC. I really couldn't figure what that, "M" stood for.
