Walter & Group....
You are cordially invited to attend the 2007 Flycasting and Instructors’ School to be held in Mountain Home, AR., on June 8-9, 2007.
Bill Gammel, Al Kyte, Al Buhr and Chuck Easterling will host the 2007 School. Attendance at the school will be limited to twenty attendees who are either FFF Certified Casting Instructors or Master Certified Casting Instructors. This limited enrollment will help insure an in depth coverage of the subject matter.
The 2007 School will again be based out of the Mountain Home Ramada Inn and reservations may be made by contacting the front desk at 870-425-9191. If you choose to stay at the Ramada please be sure to mention that you will be attending the School.
The School will begin on June 8, with a 4:00 p.m. "check in" and informal socializing, followed by a catered dinner served at 6:00 p.m. After dinner, the casting part of the program will start with a lively roundtable discussion.
The School will resume promptly the next morning at 8:00 a.m. with each host presenting a two-hour workshop for five attendees. At the end of each workshop the attendees will rotate to their next scheduled workshop until each group has had the opportunity to attend all four workshops.
We believe this is truly a unique school and are pleased to present workshops that cover a broad spectrum of fly casting. The workshops are as follows:
Bill Gammel will present the art of teaching distance casting. Bill will delve into the specific techniques of improving efficiency, adding line speed, improving tracking, and pushing the limits of the student’s casting ability. In short, you will learn Bill’s tips for helping the student get off the inevitable casting plateaus and continue advancing, no matter what his or her level of ability.
Al Buhr will be reviewing how to teach constant tension casts. The course will cover single-handed spey and presentation casts. Casting with constant tension allows the line’s developing momentum to be directed and maneuvered to improve line positioning. The focus of the class will be to gain an understanding of utilizing line momentum and rod torsion to add a third dimension to casting.
Al Kyte
will emphasize variations in the overhead cast. Practices in isolating movements in different parts of the arm, working with different casting styles, and systematically varying movements of the fly rod offer fresh, new approaches to help instructors better understand and work with students’ individual casting tendencies in fly fishing’s fundamental cast.Chuck Easterling
will be doing a video review of certain aspects of casting. This review will include an analysis and comparison of styles and mechanics involved in distance casting. It is anticipated that this will include a comparison of several excellent distance casters. This review will also include an analysis of how varying rod paths affect loop shape. It is anticipated that the School will conclude at approximately 5:30 p.m. Although the school will conclude at this time all attendees will be invited to a "Dutch Treat" dinner to be held at a favorite local restaurant. After this dinner those wishing to spend additional time with the Hosts will be invited to a Casting till Midnight session. This will be a very informal but hopefully quite informative session.
The cost of the School is $300.00 per person and includes the Friday evening meal and the Saturday lunch. You may reserve your space by sending a $150.00 deposit to Chuck Easterling at the below address. The balance of the School fee is due by May 15, 2007.
If you should have to cancel your reservation, your deposit will be refunded if notice is received by May 15. This gives us a reasonable amount of time to notify an alternate of the opening.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the School.

Chuck Easterling
