Casting horozontally allows an easier vizualization of rod tip path
and hand path:
With two parallel white ropes on the ground for
markers, between the ropes it becomes easier to see the SLP and it
becomes obvious that as the stroke
progresses that the elbow must be moved
in to touch the ribs by the halfway point
of the stroke and moved out from
the torso as the stroke is completed. Rod flexion
shortens the
effective rod length at mid point, making a straight line rather than an arc and
the elbow movement allows the hand to follow the straight line of the
rope. You had me demonstrate that method at the Marathon
seminar two years ago.
