Howdy Gordy, and group.
I
have a drill that I use for myself.
I have some Elect wires crossing my casting area They are high
enough so that I can stand directly under them and not worry about hitting
them..
I make a Vertical loop from a vertical cast. I try to make my line
follow the over head lines. When I can make the rod leg and fly leg align with
the over head wires I feel I have a great vertical loop and rod path that is
tracking straight. If you try this make sure you have lots of room under the
lines.
You can do the same by just watching your line as you make
overhead false casts. You do have to watch you do not fall over back ward.
embarrassing
On Lefty one of his sayings is "You can not make a cast until you
get the end of the line moving"
I feel that Lefty is one of the great user of the English language.
He can say more with fewer words.
Let's take what he said and take out the main words. Can Not, Cast, End, Moving. I took his 15 word
and made the statement with 5 important words. So what He did not say was
how, or direction. They were not needed. You can make a spiral cast pick up.
wiggle cast pick up, you can strip in the line until you get the end moving. If
you were to have a lawyer say the same thing it would require two books and and
engineer would require drawing, pictures with arrows and a slid rule. Sorry
Computer graphics.
Second part is 'Teaching to challenge the student' only to the next level
not over their heads so that they drown.
I too made a 'crib sheet' for Jason's book it is a great book to
look up something in. Not sit and read
Lefty is more fun to just read and you can still learn BUT DO NOT
SKIP WORDS as in the above saying if you missed any of the important words you
would miss the meaning. Lefty has to be read word for word. He does not waste
any.
