Walter & Group.....
Let's see of some of you in the Group can come up with the answer to this. (Presuming you won't remember my answer many messages back) Do this in your own words.....and make it brief.

Gordy,
Don’t know if you
ever got this one so I am resending
Trying to make the
point that with all the technical knowledge behind the scenes no one has come up
with an answer for the student yet.

Gordy, Laurence and
Group,
Laurence is wrestling
with this just like I did. I can promise you that at the end of the match those
that struggle through will gain understanding.
After our discussion of
Stroke and rod arc I asked:
What
are the implications of this discussion re stroke / arc
for a
student
using a “Soft Rod” ?
No one’s answer has
taught the student or anticipated his upcoming problem.
Gordy gave the answer
but I think most are missing it.
Let me ask it another
way
You as the instructor
have your 7wt orange teaching line on a, fairly fast rod.
Your student shows up
with an older fiberglass rod 5wt… definitely a slow rod, a real flex-er!
What
must you be conscious of and demonstrate very well in order for your student to
cast a tight loop with his equipment?
(The SLP of the
loaded rod tip is paramount in casting a tight loop)
(The answer is the answer to Laurence’s question # 3) (What should my hand be doing to make an efficient loop.)
Understanding is where
the teaching can begin!
