I would say that the fast action rod with the same cast as the softer rod would then open the loop and probably not completely unroll the line "have a tendency to pile". Reason: To long of a casting stroke "loading move" would open the loop by making the tip travel in a convex path. To long of a pause time would put slack in the line not create enough line speed to turn over the line efficiantly.
