    Tom....

    I already figured you meant that.

    Unfortunately, APPEARANCE of the rod means more to tackle sales than function when it comes to dealing with the vast majority of fishermen.

    Gordie;

    OOPS, I forgot to add, make several casts THEN turn the tip 180 deg and make several more. I can?t hardy tell the difference.

    Most factories just line them up so the weight of the guides take the sag? out.

    If the blank has too much spline ? bend ? they second it out.

    Tom

    Incidentally, A blank has to be much straighter than those sold as a rod. As you know you can build around a slight bow in a butt or tip.

    Gordie;

    Gary Loomis and I tried the ?blind Test?.

    Take a 2 pc. rod that is splined correctly, make several casts, then close your eyes and make the same amount of casts.

    Most people can?t tell the difference.

    Then; Mix it up with your eyes closed.
