    Tom....

    Yes..... that would work, because:   1. He's not out of his tree with the excitement of seeing the fish and, 2. He can follow your instructions as to when to strike.  (Yet I hate to rob the fisherman of the heroin pure high that we get from witnessing this scenario !)

    This is why it is so much easier for this same angler to make successful tarpon strike on a night trip.

    I have another solution which I'll share after some other answers.

    I hate to miss that great bonefishing, to say nothing of the permit......but we're up to our ears in striped bass, here......which lessens the agony.

    We'll start working on the CCI and MCI courses as soon as I get back.

    Gordie;

    Short of tying his hands down, CLOSE HIS EYES and keep stripping.

    I am heading to Ascension Bay around the 25th.

    I should be back for the Workshops on Nov. 10/11th. Then fly back to Ascension on the 21st.

    As mentioned, Bonefish and Permit fishing is good. Hurry home.

    Tom

    Hi, Group.....

    We were hosting an excellent trout fisherman who learned a good strip strike with which to hook tarpon.  Problem was that every time a fish took his fly, he reverted in line with his instincts and raised the rod sharply as though hooking a trout.......He lost every one.

    Then I figured out a way of breaking this habit, which worked fine.

    What do you suppose I did ?
