    Group....

As you may know, Gavin is one of our FFF brothers in Australia.  He'd be a great contact for any of you who decide to fly fish the salt, there !

I've had some unbelievably good salt water fly fishing "Down-under".  Species you may never have seen before, great fishing circumstances, and wonderful people.

I have some great news ? I?ve just finished moving the shop to a new location and now it?s even closer to the sand dunes! I still carry the largest range of saltwater flyfishing gear and supply the most up to date info in our very comprehensive flyfishing schools. Our guiding service, adventure trips and the website will be expanded to cater for the growth of this exciting sport. The shop is not hard to find as it?s just across the road from the old location or at www.tienfly.com.

The new address is 8A Point Cartwright Drive, Buddina, Queensland, 4575 Australia.

The phone number is the same - +61 0-7 5444 0411 and email is gavin@xxxxxxxxxxx

    New Directions

Turning 50 (only under great sufferance!!) got me thinking about how to expand Tie?n?Fly Outfitters in a direction that was creative, yet still progressive and definitely staying ahead of the pack. The new direction needed to open up to a new group of people who may not have otherwise thought about going Flyfishing.

Well ? I reckon I?ve found it and it?s very exciting!! A lot of my customers and friends are, like me, old surfers. Flyfishing and Longboarding are very similar in the way that it makes you feel great and you can escape the daily grind by just doing it. Both are lifestyles that are good exercise for the body and keep the mind positive, which also improves health. With all this in mind, a new product line has been added and it?s Mooloolaba Longboards shaped by Gus Harris.

Tie?n?Fly Outfitters was the first Saltwater Flyfishing Specialist Shop in Australia and now it?s the first tackle shop in Australia to ?Put a little soul into your fishing??

    Cape York - Mantaray

We?ve just come back from Weipa and a very successful trip on Kim Andersons? Mantaray with skipper Troy, and guides Dave & Wazza. This was a trip designed with couples in mind. It was a great success and will certainly be on next years calendar.

After flying into Weipa we boarded Mantaray at a boat ramp about 15 miles up the Wenlock River. We fished north as far as the Doughboy River and witnessed some fabulous sunsets in these remote rivers. The fishing is usually very good and this trip was no different with 29 species caught ? not bad!! We?ll put up a full trip report on the website as soon as we can.

The guys Wayne, Andy, Chris, Eric, James and Pete did a Mantaray trip right before ours and they also had very good flyfishing ? with a couple of awesome sessions on metre long Queenies on the flats. I?ll get a report from them and post it on the website as well so you can get all the guff.

    2005 Gold Coast Flyfishing Convention

It?s been a very busy month with the 2005 Gold Coast Flyfishing Convention being held by the Southeast Qld Flyfishers. It was a great weekend of learning and sharing ideas about our sport. I think everyone went away with improved skills to help them become more successful with their flyfishing. It was held at Camp Bornhoffen in the Gold Coast hinterland, a really beautiful venue for such an event. I?ve just been told it?ll run again next year so when I get the full details I will post them on the website. Numbers are limited so I suggest that you get in early so you don?t miss out on this great event.

Gift Vouchers are available for Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner - boy didn?t that come around fast. So if you have no idea as to what to give the flyfisher in the family for Christmas remember that Tie?n?Fly Gift Vouchers are now available for use in the shop or one of our schools or even a guide.

To celebrate the new shop and release of the next stage of the website I?ll be running some ?Not to be Missed? Bargains. These will come out on December 5th just in time for Christmas.

    News Flash

Judy, our latest member of the Tie?n?Fly team, scored 10 species on fly on the Mantaray and her best fish was a 95cm Queenfish sight casted.

Yep, she?s one of us now, lured away from that heathen bait fishing.

    Tuna Season

Not long now till the Tuna arrive so start checking your gear so as to eliminate breakdowns during this very hectic period. If you need some help in this area just email us or call into the shop. Remember it?s now across the road from the old shop.

I look forward to catching up with all of you soon.
