  • RE: Practical question... deliberate creep

    Gary...

I know of no other references to this little, "trick".

The idea is to use either creep or any other technique which provides a spike of power during the stroke to purposely make a tail as one way of fliping the leader/fly beneath an overhanging mangrove.

To avoid an actual collision and a wind knot, you can slightly alter the rod plane after the spike of power.  Takes practice....and doesn't always work.

    Gordy,

I'm really enjoying these technical/philosophical discussions!

However, a while back you mentioned using deliberate creep to cause and control
a tailing loop to present a fly under mangrove branches.

Could you please explain this cast in greater detail? You also referenced Jason
Borger's book... I'm heading to the IGFA this afternoon to look into it. Any
    other references I can check?

I like to stretch my mind with these discussions, but when it comes to practical
applications (especially in the mangroves) you really get my attention!
