On April 1-3, 2011 I will be conducting a Casting Instructor Course in the North Texas area. It is open to anyone who is interested in preparing for the FFF Casting Instructor test.
This in-depth and comprehensive course will address casting proficiency, effective teaching strategies, casting fault analysis, casting fault corrections, casting mechanics, and preparation strategies. Students will be familiarized with the various tasks of the test and shown clear, visual demonstrations of expected performance. It is expected that each student will gain a clear understanding of how to execute each specific cast and how to teach each specific cast.
Integral to the course will be a host of experienced and well qualified FFF Casting Instructors (CI's) from across the region. Jay Clark and I will be facilitating and teaching, in addition to the CI's. (Jay serves on the FFF Board of Governors and is a nationally known instructor and competition caster)
The course will be held at Spirit of the West Resort near Tioga Texas, approximately 45 minutes north of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. This is a very nice resort with lots of casting room, nice classroom space, nice lodging, and chef prepared food.
The course will officially kick-off on Friday evening with a social hour starting at 5:00pm, followed by the evening dinner. This will be followed by an orientation session and presentations on certification and teaching.
Saturday will consist of casting proficiency demonstrations, lessons, and discussions as it pertains to the CI test. The balance of the day will involve interactive discussions and demonstrations on casting mechanics and casting style. After the conclusion of Saturday's lessons and an early evening meal, there will be time for students to engage instructors in discussions and one-on-one casting sessions.
Sunday's emphasis will be on teaching skills; primarily casting fault identification, analysis, and correction. Time will also be allotted for group questions and discussions. We will be concluding early afternoon, just after lunch.
Course fee is $160. Payment reserves your slot. Course is limited to 16 students. Payment will be refundable upon notification until Feb 15, 2011. After that date, refunds will be made only when the slot is filled from the waiting list.
I highly encourage all students to stay the weekend at the resort, even those who are local. We believe much will be learned during the informal, unstructured time that results from students having easy access to a large number of great instructors over the course of the weekend.
And Spirit of the West is making this easy to do and very affordable. Two nights stay and six chef prepared meals will cost only $195.50. This is per person and based on double occupancy. Meals include Friday evening dinner, Saturday- breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday- breakfast and lunch. So once at the resort you will not have to leave. A "meals only" package is $99.50.
The total cost for the course with the lodging and meal plan is $355.50 per person and based on double occupancy.
The cost for the course with meal plan only (no lodging) is $259.50.
