[GH] In the current issue ((Oct. Nov., Dec.) issue of FLY FISHERMAN, there is an excellent article on distance casting by Steve Rajeff on p. 46., entitled : Going For Distance.
In this, he describes his method of extending his arm forward to the stop position then drifting forward a few inches while relaxing his grip. This is how he is able to form a pointed "V"-shaped loop. Relaxing the grip helps to damp the rod.
